Launch of the Digital Guide for Safe Online Shopping

As part of its ongoing efforts to raise public awareness about online shopping, the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has launched a digital guide for safe online shopping. This launch coincided with the “Safe Shopping in the Digital Economy” campaign and was shared across CPA’s official social media platforms.
The guide highlights consumer rights and supplier obligations in light of the growing e-commerce sector. It aims to empower consumers to make informed and secure decisions when shopping through digital platforms. It also contributes to enhancing legal awareness among suppliers by providing insights into the Consumer Protection Law and the E-Commerce Regulatory Framework in force in the Sultanate of Oman.
The guide is structured around five main themes: legal terminology, consumer rights and obligations in e-commerce, supplier responsibilities, steps for online shopping, and practical tips to ensure a safe online shopping experience. It also includes clear instructions on how to submit a complaint through a designated electronic form provided by CPA.
The digital guide can be accessed through CPA’s official social media accounts, by scanning the designated QR code, or by visiting CPA’s official website under the “Media Centre” section, then navigating to the “Digital Knowledge Guides,” where visitors can also explore a range of other digital publications developed by CPA.
