Ta’akad, Combat Counterfeit Goods in Oman
your profile: Tax Authority

In an important step towards consumer protection, the Tax Authority encourages everyone to download the “Ta’akad” app, which acts as a monitor to detect counterfeit products by scanning the tax stamp on each product.
Ta’akad promotes the culture of purchasing products from a trusted and licensed source, and reporting counterfeit products that cause many damages and losses, including: financial losses, health risks, and even loss of life.
Consumers can scan the QR code on the product to show a green mark that means the product is authentic, and a red mark that indicates that the product is counterfeit. The Tax Authority has included an e-reporting form in the app, which enables consumers to report any product purchased that does not bear the tax stamp. The data required to fill out the form include: Name of the person submitting the report, email address, phone number, name of the business/store, any other information or a photo can be added, and the location of the store must be included as well.
The Tax Authority noted that a distinctive tax stamp will be added to the goods subject to excise tax according to a specific time plan in Oman. Additionally, the application provides information about the Tax Authority and the key services provided, offering informative content, media content, and various communication channels for users.
