Establishing a Law Firm in Oman

The Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs, which supervises the affairs of lawyers in addition to its other functions, is rapidly working to improve its services to lawyers and legal advisors, including individuals, firms and companies in Oman through the development of the Ministry's digital services platform.

Opening a law office is one of the services that have been fully digitized and it includes: opening an office, opening a branch of an office, office data certificate, withdrawing a lawyer's license, canceling a lawyer's registration, requesting to close an office, issuing a license to practice a profession, and registering office profile data. In order to access all services, the applicant is required to log in to the Ministry's portal. 

The application procedure requires filling out the form with correct information, starting with registering the applicant's data, such as: Lawyer's status, nationality, lawyer's file number, registration grade and number. Then, the applicant is required to fill in the basic data of the office, such as: Name of the office, the purpose of opening the office, the address of the main site, the contact information of the office, and data related to the lease or ownership agreement, then the application can be sent to the Lawyers Affairs Department.

The Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs is working steadily towards implementing the plans of Oman Vision 2040, which seeks to digitize government services and simplify procedures for professionals working in the legal field to perform their tasks and duties in a more efficient manner. 

The e-services provided by the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs are very easy to use and quick to implement. Login to the portal is required to access all services.
