CBO Enables Electronic Linkage to Wages Protection System
your profile: Central Bank of Oman

The Central Bank of Oman (CBO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor, has launched an electronic service linking licensed banking and financial institutions to the Wages Protection System (WPS). This system ensures timely and accurate salary payments to private-sector employees while safeguarding their rights.
Employers can use the service through online banking platforms or by visiting bank branches. The process is efficient, with an average transaction time of less than three minutes. To enroll, employers need an account with a licensed bank and must submit documents such as the commercial register and other bank-specific requirements.
Through WPS, employers submit salary files to their bank, which verifies the data and sends it to the CBO’s system. After validation, salaries are processed and transferred to employees, with a completion report sent to the Ministry of Labor.
The system enables the Ministry to monitor compliance, detect violations, and take action to ensure workers receive their wages on time. By preventing payment delays, labor disputes, and strikes, WPS supports a stable and fair labor environment in Oman.
