The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in the Sultanate of Oman has developed zakat services for citizens to facilitate the fulfillment of this duty and clarify any uncertainties. Zakat can now be paid electronically by creating an account on the Ministry's Zakat platform.

Upon logging into the Zakat platform, users can access various services, including zakat calculation, payment, collection, almsgiving, expiation calculation and payment, Zakat al-Fitr payment, donations to eligible recipients in the Sultanate of Oman, and contributions to relief programs.

The zakat payment service is a self-service feature that allows users to pay zakat through the electronic payment gateway, with the option to direct it to a specific category or region. The funds will be distributed to eligible recipients in the Sultanate of Oman after review by the Zakat Committee. This service does not require any special documents and is completed within minutes. Users must meet the zakat eligibility criteria, which include reaching the minimum threshold (nisab), the passage of one lunar year (hawl), and stable ownership, except in the case of crops and fruits.

The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs is committed to continuously enhancing its electronic services to assist Muslims—both citizens and residents—in properly fulfilling their religious obligations. It also encourages charitable giving for the benefit of society
